ZIPPERS - Adult Group Class

Perfect for the new (or lapsed 😀) adult who wants to get sewing. (16yrs+) This set of classes will be a little different. Instead of building one full project from start to finish, we’re going to slow down, zoom in, and master the art of zippers. Each week we’ll focus on a single zipper skill so you can build confidence, accuracy, and technique without the pressure of a big project. By the end, you’ll have a toolkit of zipper methods you can use in bags, clothing, home décor, and beyond. Week #1 Zipper Tabs We’ll begin with a simple but transformative technique: adding zipper tabs. This clean, polished finish makes even the smallest pouches look professional. You’ll get comfortable sewing along and across a zipper—two motions that can feel intimidating until you’ve tried them a few times. Tabs are a small detail with big impact, and they’re the perfect warm up for the weeks ahead. Week #2 Zipper Pocket Now that you’ve built some zipper confidence, we’ll take things a step further by installing a zipper pocket. This is the kind of pocket you see inside bags, jackets, and skirts—sleek, functional, and incredibly satisfying to sew. You’ll learn how to create a neat opening, position your zipper accurately, and stitch everything in place so the pocket looks crisp and intentional. Keep your pencils sharp for this one; precision pays off. Week #3 Zipper for a Pillow By week three, you’ll be ready for a bigger challenge: adding a zipper to a throw pillow. This is a game changer for home décor because it lets you remove covers for washing and gives your cushions a clean, tailored look. We’ll walk through how to place the zipper so it’s hidden, smooth, and durable. Get ready to elevate your living space while putting your new zipper skills to work. Don't fear the zip!
